PERFORMER & MUSIC MAKER

Zen has been playing drums since he was five years old. He is passionately involved in the music & drama departments at his intermediate school, where he plays percussion in Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, & Pep Band, as well has starred as Shrek and Gaston in the past two musical productions.

For the past two years, Zen has also played drums with his School of Rock band, performing at the Norris Theater and the PV Street Fair. Every semester, his band tackles a new genre or period of music, like ska, reggae, & ‘80’s rock. He loves creating music with the great friends he has made at SOR.

A keen observer of sounds since a young age, Zen has also fallen naturally into being the sound engineer on his sister Zoë’s film sets, where he has quickly adapted to collaborating with older artists. In recent months, Zen has begun learning music engineering & sound recording & he is enjoying producing his own songs using Ableton Live 12.

Zen’s dance experience began with ballet & tap in kindergarten. Tap was a natural extension of his body’s interest in rhythm. Since then, he has discovered a love for ballroom, learning salsa, merengue, & swing. Zen loves the social aspect of partner dancing. This summer, he just started learning breaking!

Always interested in new ways to perform & express himself, Zen recently began modeling. He loves fashion & enjoys thrifting vintage finds.
