BODY OF WORK
-
THE NEW STEPFORD
This mom gets us. So glad that someone makes it possible to find the funny when you’re cohabitating with teenagers. When I’m laughing, I don’t want to kill my kids. Whitney, you’ve saved at least three lives.

WHITNEY in this moment
How would you describe this moment in your life right now?
Do you remember Theodore Taylor’s book ‘The Cay’? An old sailor wraps his body around a young boy to protect him from a hurricane. I feel like that. Very protective of my kids and my work and my sense of self while being inundated with a drive to do more, be more, be better, be more successful. I am simultaneously fierce and tired.
What phase of life are you in, & how do you think your age affects your thoughts, your feelings, your decisions?
I am grateful to be in my 50’s and entered the IDGAF stage of life. It’s liberating.
What’s the last thing you thought of before you went to bed last night?
I have this awful habit of scrolling Tik Tok late at night, so probably whatever the last Tik Tok I watched seared into my brain. I’m one of those awful people that love pimple popping videos, and shark attack videos, and watching the body count of Trump indictments.
The first thing you thought of upon waking this morning?
I hope the dog didn’t pee on the rug.
What have you been working on / playing with / scheming this last week?
GURRLLLL…..my agency Whink has been blowing up and we are working on content creation for a few brands. One is funny, one is elegant. I’m working on my stand up sets and preparing to take my son on college visits. It’s a lot of trampoline time from right brain to left brain, but I have to say I love it.
If you were to use only three words to describe your current creations, what would they be?
Irreverent, ridonkulous, ballsy
What early experience or influence on you is still very much alive for you today in your way of living or in your work?
My high school theatre teacher, Jim Bell, instilled in us that pursuit of art is a never ending journey. He taught us to never boo. He taught us to respect anyone who gets on a stage, or a platform, or a dias because speaking your truth is brave. And whether it’s your cup of tea or not, respect the artist. I’m eternally grateful to him.
What is something you’re trying to let go of right now, & how is that going?
Our high school college counselor coached parents of seniors that the college journey is a match to be made not a prize to be won. I have to put all my angst aside and trust my kid will end up where he should be.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a horror movie junkie. I’ve even written a horror movie script. Any producers wanna chat?
