MELANIE in this moment

How would you describe this moment in your life right now?

Challenging…high’s and lows…Lately low.  I’ve come to learn that if I want to get it right, creating this vision is a long term project. The balance of my life is constantly shifting, sometimes I (or an essential piece of me or my life ) might tumble overboard and other times the seas are calm with little resistance. However, the destination has become clear.  And…my nest is almost empty, and that has been an energy shift as well.

What phase of life are you in, & how do you think your age affects your thoughts, your feelings, your decisions?

I’m not sure what phase of life i’m in.  I’m 47.  Here’s what’s different.  I’m feeling enlightened.  My perceptions have shifted.  I am more self aware and at the same time more aware of others.  Boundaries have become more clear in their use. My goals have come into focus.  This is, I’m sure, based on life experience, but  maybe not necessarily age.

What’s the last thing you thought of before you went to bed last night?

I should get up and wash my face.

The first thing you thought of upon waking this morning?

I should have washed my face.

If you were to use only three words to describe your current creations, what would they be?

Feminine, Light, Connected

What early experience or influence on you is still very much alive for you today in your way of living or in your work?

It’s a family mindset of hard work and having a sense of accomplishment each day,  which is important, but lately I’m just trying to listen to the universe in regards to where to direct that energy.  I’m also independent minded, which can be a weakness and a strength.

What have you been working on / playing with / scheming this last week?

I’m working on a couple of things….

Sunrise Sessions for Pilates on Spring: one morning Pilates session each week during summer months.   Minimum of 30 people,  no maximum.  Outdoors when possible.  Inviting Local Health food / snack / beverage  creators to  provide free samples of their products to my clients all summer.  Hopefully different samples each week. Great way to collaborate with other people in the wellness space.  First samples to tap will be @ballz_by_Liz

For my dance company, THE BOSTON SHE PARTY:

Changing our current show’s name to LIBERATED and adapting some elements of the show to be more aligned with the title and how the word liberated may relate to women today.

We are also creating a spring/summer show called BLOOMERS  with a theme of women’s undergarments and how women have blossomed as the garments evolved, The set, lighting, costuming and vfx will all have a flower and blossoming focus, so multiple interpretation of “bloomers.” This one will be fun and feminine and gorgeous and light!!  Perfect for spring/summer in New England.  Now to get the funding!

What is something you’re trying to let go of right now, & how is that going?

Imposter Syndrome. I think it’s a real thing.  Also, Mom Guilt…How’s it going??…ehh

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I’m from the woods of Northern Maine. People who know me only through Pilates and dance are surprised to learn that I grew up riding dirtbikes, fishing, and playing in the dirt, and I’m still called towards it.
