EVAN in this moment

How would you describe this moment in your life right now?

My life right now is a period of adjustment: to adult life, college life, and the constant changes of the world.

What phase of life are you in, & how do you think your age affects your thoughts, your feelings, your decisions?

I'm in my transitional period between teen and adult. Being 18, I'm technically an adult, but still basically a child. I don't believe that I "think" any differently than when I was younger. I still hold mostly the same opinions, those opinions have simply gotten firmer over the years. I do believe that my age affects how I act around others: more mature and less "childish". Perhaps it's due to me trying to transition to adulthood, but most likely it's just the fear of being judged by others around me.

What have you been working on / playing with / scheming this last week?

Academic: Homework

Hobby: My Personal Website

Fun: Stardew Valley on my Nintendo Switch

If you were to use only three words to describe your current creations, what would they be?

Experimental, Simple, Inspired

What early experience or influence on you is still very much alive for you today in your way of living or in your work?

Creating aesthetically pleasing images has always been a focus and passion of mine. In middle school I created a lyric video YouTube channel, and consequently a website for it. As a sophomore in high school, I became the volunteer graphic designer for the Wilmington Historical Society, creating presentations, designing posters and signs, and maintaining its website. Design has always allured me with its combinations of art and technology, allowing me to take my creative ideas and make them a reality. Junior year of high school, I founded and designed a student run website for my school. All of these instances only confirmed my love for digital creation and design.

Who in your life has been a great support to you in championing your creative work, wellbeing, or growth? You can take a moment to describe, thank, or mention them here.

While design may have been a hidden theme throughout my childhood, I credit Peter Chen, my high school graphic design teacher, for formally introducing me to the graphic design world. Taking his class, I realized how fun design could be, and I saw myself growing in skill and ability. It is because of him that I decided to pursue a career in design. So thank you Mr. Chen. For everything. I appreciate you so much.

I'd also like to name Isabelle Hesse as someone who has always supported me. Whether it be giving me design projects, including me in her own business projects, or just being a friend, Isabelle has been my biggest ally in my design pursuits. So thank you too Isabelle!

Please tell us about your brand or business & what it's mission is. What would you like others to know about your creative work?

MOH Design is my design platform. For you, it's how I share my work to the outside world. To me, it's a documentation of my growth as an artist and a human being. MOH Design serves as the digital representation of my artistic journey, a journey that I invite everyone to watch.
